Mu'tok of the Fens

The misunderstanding between Chaeron and Anne led to this. The dishonesty on his part, really. He knew what that might've done to her, the lying and killing. For four years she had followed his orders, always the trusty knife in the dark, the eyes in the night. And for that he betrayed her. 'Whatever it takes' can only carry you so far before you become something unrecognizable --a husk of the man he could have been. But how do you turn away after going so far? Nearly twenty five years of atrocities cannot just slough away like the filth of the day. Atonement is not possible, else those atrocities be for nothing. All that is left is the continuation, the inevitable descent that is revenge. There was only one monster in the Fens. It was him.
